![]() The Viking Councils Junior Leader Training Conference The 2001 Pine Tree Camp will be held at Stearns Camp on: June 10th - 16th and June 17th - 23rd Contact the Council Service Center for information about the 2001 course! What is the conference? The Junior Leader Training Conference is a seven-day outdoor experience for boy leaders in support of the Scoutmasters responsibility for the training of troop junior leaders. It is an official course of the B.S.A. and is conducted by the Viking Council Training Committee. What is its purpose? Scouting recognizes that Scoutmasters have the responsibility of training their own junior leaders. The purpose of this conference is not to assume that role, but to support it! Who may attend? Each participant must be a First Class Scout, 13 years old, and currently filling a leadership position in the troop as Senior Patrol Leader or Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, or likely to assume one of these positions soon. Is the Scoutmaster involved? The conference is intended to strengthen the relationship between the junior leader and his Scoutmaster. Scoutmasters can get additional information regarding the training involved and how they can become more involved in the development of their participants by contacting the Council Service Center. Ask for Mike Simonet . Special information sessions can be arranged at Roundtables, as well, with both adult and Scout staff explaining the programs purposes and expectations.
